Irvinder was educated at East London University and the Inns of Court School of Law, and was called to the Bar in 1987. In 1996 she won the Course Director's prize for achieving the highest marks in the written examinations for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrator's Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration. She became a Fellow of the Institute in 1999, a Chartered Arbitrator in 2008 and is a member of the CIArb President's Panel of Arbitrators. As well as in litigation, Irvinder represents parties in domestic and international arbitration and has experience of mediation both as party representative and as mediator. Irvinder became a Consultant to KCC's Litigation, Employment and Education Team in June 2012.

Irvinder's interest in alternate dispute resolution provides a focus for avoiding disputes where possible and managing them in a practical and commercial and manner bearing in mind the working practices and needs of her clients. Irvinder has assisted schools in dealing with a variety of construction related contractual disputes and also technology matters.
