Biography

Kirstine was educated at the University of Reading and the College of Law. Kirstine undertook her training in private practice at the largest legal aid firm in England gaining experience in Family Law, Child Care Law and Mental Health Law.

Upon qualification in 2011, Kirstine remained with the firm for a short period specialising in both Family and Child Care Law before moving to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in September 2011. At Tower Hamlets Kirstine dealt with all aspects of children social care, including care proceedings, adoption proceedings, wardship proceedings, applications under the inherent jurisdiction, forced marriage, leaving care duties, Section 17 responsibilities, no recourse to public funds, status of placements and judicial review. Kirstine also dealt with some areas of adult social care including community care assessments and Court of Protection applications. 

In addition, Kirstine was involved in the pilot of electronic bundling in east London, including setting up the first mock trial, in order to achieve huge cost savings for the authority. Kirstine was appointed as a senior solicitor in April 2014.

Kirstine enjoys undertaking her own advocacy when possible.

Kirstine has provided training to social workers on a variety of topics both at social work conferences and at social work team meetings.
