Biography

Ellie, originally from Southend-On-Sea in Essex, was educated locally at Canterbury Christ Church University and is currently studying part-time for her LPC at the University of Law. She joined the Kent Legal Services, Adult Social Welfare and Asylum Team in August 2016 from a Barristers Chambers, also in Kent, dealing with primarily civil matters.

Since joining, Ellie has primarily dealt with Court of Protection matters, working alongside Winsome Levy on court cases.

The majority of Ellie’s workload focuses on cases relating to a person’s Article 5 right to liberty. She has gained extensive experience in dealing with challenges to people’s deprivation of liberty, and the Re X streamlined procedure that authorises non-contentious deprivations of liberty. She has practical involvement in court proceedings, and is involved in the day-to-day running of cases that are before the Court of Protection.

Ellie has gained valuable experience in making applications to the court, drafting statements and drafting orders. Additionally, Ellie has assisted in providing legal advice to an array of clients over a range of different scenarios.

Ellie was also involved in the running of this year’s Kent Legal Services Community Care Conference.
