Food and agriculture
We analyse of food, fertilisers and animal feed.
We also test consumer goods for Trading Standards Services
throughout England to make sure they meet safety requirements
.
We provide analytical and laboratory services to district
councils, port-health authorities and government departments
with a vast range of laboratory services.
Pesticide testing
Pesticides is a broad term covering many types of herbicide,
insecticide and fungicide.
Because of the range of pesticides available and their
diverse chemical properties, there is no single method to
analyse of all of them. The most useful method of testing is
called gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (or GC-MS).
We have a UKAS accredited
method which uses the GC-MS technique. It is
approved for testing over 90 pesticides.
We can test a huge range of items for pesticide levels,
including most fruits and vegetables and other food items including
flour and honey.
Environmental
We provide a service district and borough councils to
assist with their environmental monitoring responsibilities.
We test for pollutants, including:
- Nitrogen Dioxide in air
- Sulphur Dioxide in air
- Benzene in air
- Lead in air and dust
- Asbestos
Asbestos Testing
For many years we have provided an asbestos identification
service to members of the public, local building firms and Kent
County Council departments.
Our laboratory is accredited to ISO 17025 (an international
management standard for the environment) and our staff have
passed the relevant British Occupational Hygiene Society
qualification required to carry out asbestos testing.
