Positive action in recruitment
Introduction
To provide recruiters with an understanding of the key
fundamentals of Positive Action in recruitment and the benefits to
the organisation, community and KCC expectations and facilities.
The course is designed to ensure that Members are confident about
the process and their obligations as required by legislation and
the organisation.
Objectives
- Demonstrate awareness of equality legislation relating to all
stages of the recruitment and selection process and understand the
organisation responsibilities under the legislation.
- Write and use concise selection criteria
- Understand the clear difference between positive action and
positive discrimination
- Understand how personal values and behaviour can affect
behaviour and decision making
- Prepare advertisements to attract good candidates
- Convey appropriate messages about the organisation
Course content
Convey appropriate messages about the organisation through the
recruitment and selection procedure. A highly participatory course
supported by formal inputs ensuring practical and productive
understanding. The course includes a variety of training tools,
group discussions and practical case studies are used to explore
issues in a structure manner matching course objectives with
organisational aims.
