Chairmanship skills
Introduction
Many Members have to chair meetings as part of their day to day
duties. Do your meetings start and end on time? Are agendas clearly
defined and the objectives always met? This course will help to
ensure that your meetings are managed effectively.
Objectives
To enable Councilors' to consider all aspects of the Chairman’s
role and encourage them to devise practical ways of developing
their performance in this area.
This will include:
- The role of the Chairman in different meetings
- Preparing effectively for a meeting
- Using a range of skills including listening, summarising skills
and facilitation
- Taking control of a meeting and managing time
- Developing a range of techniques for dealing with different
meeting participants
- Learning points and action plan
