Giving feedback and having difficult conversations
Introduction
This is a highly interactive one-day workshop equipping
line managers with the insight and technical appreciation to give
and receive effective feedback in a variety of contexts,
including:
- 1:1 dialogue with staff members
- Team settings
- Communication with peers and colleagues
- Communicating with senior managers
Objectives
- Appreciate the value and principles of effective feedback.
- Understand how to time and pitch your feedback to suit the
situation.
- Be familiar with and confident in using best practice feedback
techniques.
- Know how to offer and receive constructive criticism.
- Be able to deal confidently with challenging situations and
behaviours.
- Understand how to respond to and act on feedback.

- Why feedback matters.
- Straight talking...and what gets in the way.
- One on one - practical session with trial observation, feedback
and reflection.
- Team settings.
- Upward feedback.
- Action planning.
