Conflict management
Introduction
This workshop is designed to help delegates deal with conflict
arising from the nature of today’s fast moving and results-focused
organisations, where responsibilities are loosely defined and staff
are driven towards immediate responses and results. The course is
also ideal for participants who manage a team where conflict has
arisen and you want to turn that conflict into a positive energy
working towards improved performance.
Objectives
- Gain an insight into conflict management and the positive
purposes of conflict.
- Know and use the skills necessary to prevent, resolve and avoid
escalating conflict.
- Develop your management style in relation to the individuals
you manage.
- Get the best possible results in the shortest possible time;
avoiding unnecessary expense and emotional unrest.
- Confidently use new strategies to resolve even the most
difficult conflicts.
- Discover what’s important and each party’s willingness to find
a solution.
Course content
- The nature of conflict: definitions, personal experiences and
the causes of conflict.
- Kilman’s conflict model: competing, compromising, avoiding,
accommodating.
- Managing and resolving conflict.
- Skills practice.
- Action planning.
