Social media - ‘connecting people’
Introduction
Confused about Twitter, Blogging, Wikis, Listening Online and
Sharing? Come and learn how these innovative technologies enable
organisations to 'connect' with their customers and
communities.
Objectives
- To give a thorough overview of social media tools and
approaches
- Understand how local government and community campaigners use
social media for innovation, engagement and improvement
- Understand the basis of building a social media strategy for a
local government project
- Understand the risks of using and not using social media.
- Know how social media complements and supports the work of Kent
County Council.
- Understand the parameters of using social media responsibly as
a Kent County Council employee.
Course content
The programme is designed to be interactive and highly
participative. Whilst there will be discussions around tools and
communications and engagement theory all the content will have
practical applications and be fully supported by ‘real life’
scenarios. There will also be ample time to network and learn from
each other, exploring practical next steps for the use of social
media for both personal development and as a channel for effective
community engagement.
