Excel training - list management
Introduction
This training course is designed for users who need to be able
to manipulate and produce reports from data held in Excel
spreadsheets. No previous knowledge of Excel is required, though
attendance on the two-day introductory training course is
desirable.
The training course is tutor led and hands-on. There is ample
opportunity for the delegate to practise the skills learnt via a
series of graded training exercises, developed to gain the optimum
learning from the training course. Real life examples can
also be explored.
Objectives
- Create and edit a data list/data form
- Sort and filter data
- Name cell ranges/use database functions
- Create and use pivot tables
- Create and use data validation
- Use conditional formatting
- Use autoformats
- Print
Course content
- Recap of basic skills: cell referencing, inserting/deleting
columns and rows, selecting ranges, entering and editing data (if
required)
- Data lists will be explained, together with how to create a
data list using a data form
- Using freeze panes, sorting on one and multiple columns
- Using filtering to extract records, advanced filtering using
criteria
- Functions used include SUMIF, COUNTIF, DSUM, DCOUNTA, DAVERAGE,
DMAX , DMIN
- Using the Paste function wizard
- Constructing reports using Pivot Tables, refreshing data and
grouping items
- Printing, including print preview, page numbering
and headers and footers
