Paediatric moving and handling

Introduction

This course is designed for staff that carry out moving and handling tasks with children.

Staff attending the training course will be able to select and carry out appropriate safe handing techniques in their workplace.

Objectives

This course aims to inform participants of the legislative basis to moving and handling practice at work and to provide instruction in spinal care and appropriate manual handling techniques for their workplace.

Course content

• Describes the principles of safe moving and handling
• Demonstrates safe moving and handling technique appropriate to their workplace
• Understand the application of risk assessment
• Explain the principles of good back care and prevention of injuries
• Identify alternatives to manual handling
