Asbestos management
Introduction
This course provides an introduction to asbestos for staff such
as Centre Managers, Premises Managers, Business Managers and
Headteachers, and for them to understand their role as duty holders
in the management process. Please note this is a management

Awareness for staff such as caretakers and
receptionists.
Objectives
To provide essential information on asbestos health risks and
asbestos controls, to learn how to devise a safe system of work for
contractors, and how to make sense of the asbestos survey. Also to
provide a legal overview of the 'duty to manage'.
Course content
- Know why asbestos is hazardous, and under what
circumstances
- Management of the controls that keep people safe
- Survey use and survey updating
- Your role in commissioning works where asbestos is located
- How to devise a safe system of work for contractors on
site
- Management of contractors, using the asbestos register
