Asbestos awareness

Introduction

This course provides an introduction to asbestos for staff such as site managers, caretakers and reception staff, and for them to understand their role in the management process. Please note this is an awareness course. See the course content for Asbestos Management if you manage premises.

Objectives

To provide an overview of asbestos health risks and asbestos controls, to learn how to make sure contractors work safely, and how to make sense of the asbestos survey.

Course content

• Know why asbestos is hazardous, and under what circumstances
• Understand the controls that keep people safe
• Understanding of the importance of a safe system of work for contractors on site
• Management of contractors, using the asbestos register
• Overview of a typical survey, and how to update it

Duration: Half day (AM)
Cost: £100 per delegate
