Domestic abuse awareness
Introduction
This course is suitable for any practitioners who wish to
develop their understanding of domestic abuse in order to feel more
able to effectively support victims and families. The course
particularly focuses on the impact domestic abuse has on victims
and establishes how this may affect the way they are supported.
Objectives
The aim of this course is to raise participants' awareness of
domestic abuse / violence. It will also improve agencies
“point of contact” response to those reporting domestic abuse.
Course content
By the end of this course delegates will:
- know the definition of, and background statistics in relation
to domestic abuse
- be able to assist in identifying domestic abuse
- have an understanding of the barriers to leaving abusive
relationships
- have an understanding of the wider impact of domestic abuse on
children
- be able to assist participants in raising the issues of
domestic abuse with women
