Child protection

Introduction

This course is suitable for all those who are involved with the welfare of children and young persons.

Objectives

To give attendees a clear understanding of their responsibilities arising from ‘Every Child Matters’, to confirm expected conduct and to support individuals in their role.

Course content

By the end of this course delegates will:

  • recognise signs of abuse and take action to report suspected abuse
  • describe the role of Kent Safeguarding Children Board and the different areas that the organisation works
  • have a clear understanding of policy and procedures
  • be able to describe how abuse impacts upon children’s achievements and development
  • understand their responsibility to safeguard children
  • to provide an opportunity to raise and act on issues or concerns
  • have a clear understanding of handling disclosures
