CEOP - Child exploitation and online protection
Introduction
Thinkuknow training may be delivered to professionals who have
had criminal records bureau (or equivalent) clearance that work
with children.
This course is suitable for school teachers, police school
support officers, youth group staff or others in similar
positions.
Objectives
To promote and develop an understanding of the issues associated
with child exploitation and online protection. The training course
will enable delegates to deliver the Thinkuknow resources to
5-16year olds (including the Thinkuknow presentation to children
11-16 (Key stage 3/4).
Course content
By the end of this course delegates will:
- Understand the role of CEOP and the different areas in which
the organisation works
- Understand the Virtual Global Taskforce and the report abuse
mechanism
- Be able to identify areas where the report abuse button can be
found
- Recognise the different technologies that young people use and
how they use them
- Understand the risks that are posed to young people when they
access these technologies
- Identify methods of protecting young people when using these
technologies
- Identify cyber bullying and how it can be combated
- Recognise the issues racism, xenophobia and homophobia
- Understand the term child trafficking and recognise possible
indicators
- Recognise the child protection issues relating to the delivery
of the Thinkuknow resources and how to combat them
- Identify the different think you know resources and what group
they are appropriate for
- Understand how the think you know presentation is delivered to
young people
