Kent Coaching & Mentoring conference
Our annual Kent Coaching and Mentoring Conference was held this
year on Wednesday 10th November 2010 at Oakwood House, Oakwood
Park, Maidstone. We were pleased to welcome all of our speakers to
the conference.
Zoey Hudson, Amie Crews and Kim Churchill from from Southern
Rail and Liz Macann from the BBC shared their experiences of how a
coaching environment had changed their organisations and how they
were ‘ developing leaders through coaching’. Ian Procter, Road
Safety Manager, from Kent County Council also shared his
experiences of working with his team in developing ‘Coaching as a
Leadership Style’
Liz McCann - BBC

We were thrilled to welcome our Keynote Speaker to the
conference, Nancy Kline, who is President of TimeToThink, an
international leadership development and coaching company . Nancy
is also a published author and innovative public speaker. Nancy
created and pioneered the development of the theory and process
called The Thinking Environment® and spoke to the conference about
this model . This model allows people to turn their teams,
organisations and relationships into Thinking Environments in which
people at every level can think for themselves with rigour,
imagination, courage and grace. The process increases the quality
of thinking in, and thus of concrete results from, all human
interactions, both in pairs and in groups and decreases the amount
of time it takes to achieve them.
It was a truly inspiring and successful day, so thought
provoking and our coaches were all able to take something away from
the day to enhance the coaching skills they already have.
Kim Churchill, Zoey Hudson & Amie Crews – Southern
Rail

Some comments from coaches:
“I just have to comment on Nancy Kline. It was an absolute
pleasure to listen to such an inspiring lady talk for one and half
hours unscripted, unaided, positive, clear, structured and
incredibly uplifting but not patronising and completely relevant to
our organisation and coaching. Absolutely stunning and I
congratulate you on achieving such a coup for a speaker. And to
give her the "graveyard" slot after lunch made not one jot of
difference to her at all. Absolutely brilliant. If the next
Conference is even half as good I will definitely be
there”
“Thank you for an interesting and thought provoking
conference. I was totally blown away by Nancy - how inspiring is
she ?? “
“What a fantastic and inspiring day, I can’t wait to put it all
into practice!”
Ian Procter - Kent County
Council

Comments from Nancy Kline:
“The conference inspired me, as does the entire work of Kent
Coaching and Mentoring and this achievement of Coral Ingleton and
all of her colleagues. Arriving in time to hear Zoey Hudson and her
team, Ian Proctor and Liz McCann, I found myself wishing all people
who serve others could have heard about their work and the very
human, as well as business, difference it is making. It was an
honour to carry their impact and warmth and the stories of their
experience and success with me as I spoke in the afternoon. I also
felt as I was speaking the privilege it was to be with everyone
there, and to celebrate our mutual dreams for the development and
thriving of human beings everywhere”.
