Does KCC own a (specific) piece of land/property?
You can use Find my
Nearest to discover where we own property in the county.
Type in your postcode and select Kent County Council Property from
the list on the right hand side.
Alternatively you can post a plan or sketch indicating the land
in question to: Terrier Team, Room 1.47, Sessions House, County
Hall, Maidstone, ME14 1XQ. Alternatively, send it by email to
terrier@kent.gov.uk.
Please note that a plan is vital in order to accurately identify
the land in question. Answers cannot be given on the telephone as
research is very often necessary.
Who owns the land/property at…?
If you suspect that the land/property belongs to KCC, read the
question above. If you suspect KCC is not the owner, contact the
Land
Registry.

Does KCC have any land or property available to rent?
Email estates.enquiries@kent.gov.uk
who will be able to advise.
I would like to lease/rent a particular KCC property.
To confirm that the property is owned by KCC, post a plan or
sketch of the area in question with your request to: Terrier Team,
Room 1.47, Sessions House, County Hall, Maidstone ME14 1XQ.
Alternatively, send it by email to terrier@kent.gov.uk. Once it is
confirmed that the property is owned by KCC email estates.enquiries@kent.gov.uk
for further advice.
There is a problem with a fence/wall/tree etc. on KCC
land.
This may be KCC's responsibility. Send a plan or sketch
indicating the land in question to: Terrier Team, Room 1.47,
Sessions House, County Hall, Maidstone ME14 1XQ. Alternatively,
send it by email to terrier@kent.gov.uk.
If the enquiry is not about KCC land, you need to check with the
landowner. Usually deeds do not mention boundary responsibilities
and so any adjoining landowners will need to come to a mutually
acceptable agreement.
Do I legally have access to the public highway from my
house/land?
For an informed opinion concerning the boundary of the public
highway, post a plan (a sketch will suffice if nothing else is
available) indicating the land in question to Highway Definitions,
Highways and Transportation, Ashford Depot, Javelin Way,
Henwood Industrial Estate, Ashford, TN24 8AD or email to
highwaydefinitionsearches@kent.gov.uk.
My house has a restrictive covenant stating that I must get
permission from KCC before carrying out any development/extension.
How do I get permission?
Send an email to estates.enquiries@kent.gov.uk.
You can also send your enquiry to Estates Enquiries, Room 1.49,
Sessions House, County Hall, Maidstone, ME14 1XQ.
How do I find where the boundaries to my house are?
These will be in the title deeds to your house, usually kept by
your bank or building society or possibly your solicitor.
