European passport return service
The European passport return service enables you to keep your passport whilst your application for your UK visa is being processed, this service is provided by Kent County Council. It is available for European Economic Area (EEA) and Swiss nationals applying online using the EEA Qualified Person (QP) or EEA Permanent Resident (PR) application forms.
The Kent and Bexley Register Offices can photocopy your EEA or Swiss passport and forward a copy along with your checklist and application to the Home Office on your behalf. Your passport will then be available for you to use while your application is being processed.
We offer a walk in service between 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday at one of the below registration offices. No appointment is required, you will be seen when a member of staff is available.
You must attend within 5 working days of submitting your online EEA(QP) or EEA (PR) application form.

- original passport
- a copy of your checklist (including your confirmed Payment Notification Number)

Our charging fee is £15.00, plus postage and package for any envelope that weighs over 100g.

The Home Office may contact you for further information after your application has been submitted.
Using the European passport return service does not guarantee the success of the application and the local authority cannot provide any advice. This service will not ensure that your form has been correctly completed and correct supporting documents submitted. We do not provide any timescales in relation to your application form once it has been sent to the Home Office.
