Contact Kent's police, fire or ambulance services by text

Kent's Emergency Services have a text service for Deaf people to contact the Police, Fire and Rescue or Ambulance from their mobile phones.

A leaflet explaining how the service works (PDF, 427k) is available and you can also watch a video explaining the service in sign language, on Kent TV.

How the service works

Please follow the 4 steps below to text Kent's Emergency Services.

  1. You need to remember if you want the Police or the Fire or the Ambulance, that's important.

  2. Write your text, starting with the name of the service you require (Police, Rescue or Medic). It's important to tell them where and what the problem is.

  3. Text your message to the number 60066 - that goes straight to the communications centre.

  4. Wait for a reply from the communication centre. They may need to ask you questions for some more information.

Important: A text message cannot be guaranteed to arrive quickly. We rely on mobile phone companies and their networks. We cannot be responsible for delays in receiving messages. If you don't get a reply quickly, try another way of contacting us.
