Contact Kent's police, fire or ambulance services by text
Kent's Emergency Services have a text service for Deaf people to
contact the Police, Fire and Rescue or Ambulance from their
mobile phones.
A
leaflet explaining how the service works (PDF, 427k) is
available and you can also watch a video explaining the service in
sign language, on Kent TV.
How the service works
Please follow the 4 steps below to text Kent's Emergency
Services.
-
You need to remember if you want the Police or the Fire or the
Ambulance, that's important.
-
Write your text, starting with the name of the service you
require (Police, Rescue or Medic). It's important to tell them
where and what the problem is.
-
Text your message to the number 60066 - that goes straight to
the communications centre.
-
Wait for a reply from the communication centre. They may need to
ask you questions for some more information.
Important: A text message cannot be guaranteed
to arrive quickly. We rely on mobile phone companies and their
networks. We cannot be responsible for delays in receiving
messages. If you don't get a reply quickly, try another way of
contacting us.
