Services for people who are d/Deaf, deafened, and hard of
hearing
We provide services to d/Deaf and partially hearing people of
all ages, through staff skilled in communicating with d/Deaf people
and who have a knowledge and understanding of the Deaf community
and Deaf culture.
Our services
We provide the following information,
advice and services to those aged 18 - 65.
- Assessing a person's needs which arise from deafness
- Assessing the need for assistive equipment and providing it
when it is needed
- A Supporting People service to assist with a range of housing
related issues
- Ensuring equality of access to services
- Advice on the Equality Act and its implications when accessing
services
- Advise on welfare rights and support with benefit
claims
- Carrying out registrations on behalf of people who are d/Deaf
or hard of hearing (under Department of Health classification) for
the Personal Social Services Local Authority Statistics
register.

- Specialist information and advice
- Assessment and provision of equipment to persons aged 65 and
over
- Resource centres to view equipment
- Lipreading Support Groups.
If you are aged under 18 and are d/Deaf, deafened, and hard of
hearing you will recieve services and support from Childrens Deaf Services.
