The needs of people in Kent with learning disabilities
Adult people with learning disabilities have a wide range of
social and health care needs. This reflects the spectrum of
severity for learning disabilities and the different conditions
that may co-exist.
People with learning disabilities also have needs generated by
social exclusion, such as poverty, lack of housing and
unemployment.
Those with mild learning disabilities may need specialist
support in mainstream education while they are children.
People with learning disabilities may therefore need the
same support and benefits as others in socially excluded groups,
rather than specialist services.
At higher levels of disability, however, many individuals will
have lifelong needs for health and social care.

with learning disabilities in Kent is available in the Learning
