Advocacy service for people with a learning disability
It is important that people with a learning disability have
support available to make sure they are treated fairly and to make
it easier for them to participate fully in community
life. We work with Advocacy for All to provide a Kent
wide advocacy service for people with a learning
disability.
People are supported to be treated fairly and to participate
fully in community life. Advocacy can help people ensure that their
rights are respected, voices are heard and real control is
exercised over life decisions. Advocacy can help with things
like:
- Expressing views and choosing what to do
- Choosing how to be supported
- Helping to make sure support is delivered within principles of
Person Centred Planning
- Managing change and/or dealing with difficult issues
- Speaking up at meetings
- Standing up for rights
- Living as independently as possible in the community
