Carers survey results from 2008
Alongside the Department of Health, we commissioned the
Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) to design
a questionnaire to be used in a survey of carers’ experiences
and outcomes, which was carried out in August 2008.
KCC’s aims were that the survey would:
- Establish a baseline measure of carers’ experiences and
satisfaction
- Feed into the broader objective of improving services for
carers
The survey consisted of questions on both service quality and
carers’ quality of life and was sent to 4716 adult carers in
Kent.
The survey was sent to carers in a wide range of circumstances
and situations and in addition to identifying and sampling
carers from Kent Adult Social Services records,19 local voluntary
organisations that supported carers were recruited.
These voluntary organisations forwarded the survey to carers on
the council’s behalf.
With 1750 questionnaires returned, the overall response rate was
37 per cent. The outcomes of the survey are available below:
