Finding a good placement match
When someone is referred to the service we start to look for a
carer on the scheme that we think would be a good match.
We make sure that those on the scheme are completley comfortable
with their prospective carer before they start to live
together.
We show service users photographs of their carers we think
would be a good match and if all goes we we can arrange to meet the
carers a few times so that you can get to know each
other.
Once a service user has stayed overnight with their carer we
will ask them if they want to try living with the carers to
see how it goes. If everyone agrees we help people move into
their new homes.
Getting to know each other
We ask all those on the scheme who have been placed in a
carers home to help us write a plan which will tell their
carers about themselves.
This helps carers know what their placements like and dislike as
well as telling them about the new things those in their
care would like to do and learn.
Regular meetings with scheme users and carers are
held to make sure that both parties are happy and to see if
there is anything we need to change.
You can find more information on this process, and the Adult
Placement Scheme, in the
Relatives guide (PDF, 83k).
