Drugs and alcohol misue
If you have substance misuse problem we can offer a
confidential assessment of your care and support needs. We also
offer give advice, information and introduction to other
organisations which offer help to family and friends who are
concerned about someone they know who may misuse
substances.
Services offered
- a comprehensive assessment for care management
- support and advice to individuals
- when appropriate, support for people with substance misuse
problems, living in the community. This may include liaising with
agencies who provide detox
- assessment, and where appropriate, funding for community or
residential rehabilitation.
General eligibility for a care management service:
The following must apply:
- The clients has a history of substance misuse
- Such misuse is hazardous to the client’s general health and
social welfare or hazardous to carers, partners or the general
public.
- Relevant community or prison based interventions have been
tried and have been unsuccessful or did not meet client
needs.
Criteria for access to residential rehabilitation:
In addition to the criteria above the following three criteria
must apply:
- The client is ready to accept help with their drug and alcohol
problems and there is evidence of their ability to benefit from
residential rehabilitation.
- Available community based treatment and rehabilitation services
are not appropriate.
- Provision of structured rehabilitation programme will
significantly reduce the likelihood of relapse, thereby avoiding
severe, negative consequences for their health, housing and
lifestyle.
