Scott's success story
Scott looked to start her career in social care by
signing up to take part in our apprenticeship scheme pilot.
- What do you do?
My first placement has been with Charing Healthcare working with
the activities co-ordinator in one of their residential homes for
older people with dementia.
I hope to try other placements during the apprenticeship to gain
more specialist experience.
- What did you do before this?
I was studying Health and Social Care at college and doing some
volunteering in a social care service with people who have a
learning disability which I really enjoyed.
- Why did you become an apprentice?
I am very keen to gain work experience and to gain knowledge about
good care practice.
- What is the most important thing that you have learnt
so far?
The most important thing so far is how to communicate effectively
using a range of methods such as sign language, body language and
written communication.
