Amie's success story
Amie looked to start her career in social care by signing
up to take part in our apprenticeship scheme
pilot.

-
What do you do?
I am working with 'Turning Points' in a learning
disability service for my apprenticeship.
The work that I do is really varied, it is mostly about supporting
people with their daily lives and helping them live as they want to
live.
This can be household tasks such as shopping and cooking and also
going out in to the community and for day trips.
- What did you do before this?
I thought that I wanted to work with children or go into teaching
and had just started a full time childcare course when I was given
the opportunity to become an apprentice.
- Why did you become an apprentice?
I thought it was a good opportunity to learn while working and
because it would give me better qualifications and more experience
in the social care sector.
- What is the most important thing that you have learnt
so far?
I have learnt a lot about how to safely support people to
experience new things.
