Apprenticeships in social care
National Apprenticeship Week (7 to 11 February 2011) aims
to highlight the talents and skills of apprentices and celebrate
the value of apprenticeships.
If you are looking to begin a career in social care
then an apprenticeship could be a great way to start.
You could work in one of many diverse social care settings, gain
a recognised qualification and earn a regular wage while you are
learning.

Apprenticeships in social care are usually available to young
people aged 16 to 18 years old however there are opportunities for
people both younger and older than this.
An apprenticeship offers you the chance to:
- undertake your learning and qualifications in nine to 15
months
- gain experience of working in the adult social care sector
- complete a relevant social care qualification
- earn a regular wage
- receive full support from your assessor or tutor and a
workplace mentor throughout the programme.
We have been involved in developing a pilot programme with
our partners for apprenticeships within the adult social care
sector. Find out more about our pilot
programme.
