Social Care Commissioning

The Kent Families and Social Care Directorate is responsible for commissioning a variety of social care services for people assessed as needing care. These services range from residential to domiciliary care, preventative services including day opportunities for older people or services for people affected by dementia, community support services for people with a learning disability and many others.

We want to work with our partners to deliver a wide range of high quality and reliable services to the people living in Kent and to provide you with all the information you need to understand how to do business with us.

You can:

• Change or submit your business details 
  New providers of older persons services can apply for a contract for residential care. Existing service providers of older persons, physical, learning disability or mental health can change or update your business details including assigning a contract or updating your legal status.

• Grant applications
  Social Services were given discretionary powers to award grant aid from its main line budget by Section 64 of the Health Services and Public Health Act (1969). These discretionary powers were incorporated into the NHS & Community Care Act (1990). Kent Families and Social Care uses these powers to award grant aid to support its work and fulfil its responsibilities under the NHS and Community Care Act (1990).
  
  
• Supporting Independence Service (SIS) Bulletin For Providers, Stakeholders and Service Users
  We are reviewing the way we purchase Community Support Services, Supported Accommodation and Supported Living. These will become the Supporting Independence Service.
