Information about the Kent Card for care service providers
Here there is useful information for service
providers including frequently asked questions and the benefits of
accepting the Kent Card.
There is no cost to individuals in using the card and you
will get paid within 4 working days of the transaction taking
place.
Accepting Visa payments
There is a maximum of £2500 per transaction. Sufficient funds
must be available on the card to cover the transaction charge.
In order to accept Visa payments you will need to contact your
own bank or Streamline.
Once you are set up to accept Visa payments, the Kent Card
Project Officers will add your provider details to a list that
shows which providers in Kent accept the Kent Card.

If a clients card transaction is declined you must inform and
advise them to contact the KCC help line 08458 247 100 or minicom
08458 248 905. The help line is available 24hrs a day 7 days a
week.
Payment in cash
In most cases clients will not be able to withdraw cash with
their card, this facility will be blocked.
Please advise your client that they should not divulge this
information to you and advise them to get their PIN number changed
as soon as possible.
Some individuals are more likely to give out personal
information unwittingly and it is requested that you treat any
information given to you as confidential.

When a client cannot pay
This situation should not normally arise, however it is the
responsibility of the individual card holder to ensure sufficient
funds are available to cover their needs.
Individuals will need to contact their Care Manager regarding
any problems due to lack of funds or increases in costs. Any
increases will need to be agreed with Social Services.
