  This annual report summarises the structure of the Kent and Medway Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Board, Committee and sub groups. It also provides a breakdown of the safeguarding activities from April 2011 - March 2012.

• Disability Hate Crime report (easy read version)
  This report is produced by the Crown Prosecution Service and is about how to deal with disability hate crime. This booklet aims to help staff, carers and disabled people to have confidence in reporting these issues as crimes.

• Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (map) Annual Report 2006/2007 (PDF, 1.3mb)
  Across Kent and Medway, the risk posed by sexual and violent offenders is managed through a three-tier system based on the level of risk the offender presents. This system enables resources to be deployed to manage risk in the most efficient and effective manner in order to best protect the public.

• Consultation paper on the potential for Adult Protection legislation in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (PDF, 871k)
  This report is produced by Action on Elder Abuse (AEA). We are envisaging the introduction of new all-encompassing legislation around the issue of adult protection that cuts across health, social care, and the criminal justice system. We believe it should replace 'No Secrets' and 'In Safe Hands', and introduce legislation for the first time into Northern Ireland.

• SCOPE report: Getting Away with Murder
  The report sets out a series of recommendations aimed at tackling disability hate crime.

• Prevention in adult safeguarding (PDF, 1.9mb)
  This report outlines the literature on the range of methods of preventing the
  abuse of vulnerable adults, from public awareness campaigns through to
  approaches that empower the individual to be able to recognise, address and
  report abuse. In addition, it examines policy and practice guidance and
  examples of emerging practice. The report has been informed by SCIE’s Adult
  Safeguarding Service User Advisory Group.
