Getting in touch

Advice and counselling

Social workers are skilled in providing practical help and advice with many problems which may include personal difficulties with relationships, welfare benefits, accommodation and employment.

Support groups are often available where people can receive professional help and talk to other people who share the same experiences.

Services for people from ethnic minority groups

Within Kent some areas have a substantial element of the population from ethnic minority groups. In these areas special support groups, including an Asian Women's Group are available to help deal with their particular problems.

Support for people who misuse drugs or alcohol

Social Services work with the Health Service and Voluntary Organisations to provide a specialist counselling and advice service for people with alcohol or drug problems, and a full assessment of need where residential rehabilitation is being considered. Information on the services of each area can be obtained from your nearest Substance Misuse Team.
