TeleHealth
What is TeleHealth and how does it work?
TeleHealth technology will help you and your Health
professionals to monitor your vital signs. Using the TeleHealth
equipment you will be able to take the same measurements that the
nurse or GP take at the surgery therefore avoiding frequent visits
to the surgery. Your measurements are automatically sent through
the telephone line (at no cost to you) and the nurse or GP will be
able to read those measurements from their desk at the surgery to
monitor your progress.
The Kent TeleHealth equipment is simple to use and comes complete
with the appropriate devices used to record your vital signs. All
that is needed is a connection to a telephone line, the equipment
doesn't interfere with the operation of your telephone - you may
make and receive calls as normal.
Kent Adult Social Services in partnership with both
Eastern and Coastal Kent and West Kent PCT's has been awarded
significant additional funding by the
Department of Health to undertake a
Whole System Demonstrator programme to prove the benefits of
assistive technologies, such as TeleHealth and
Telecare.
TeleHealth equipment is not an emergency
service.
