Below is a step by step guide to how Telecare works:
Step 1
Firstly an assessment will take place in order that the
equipment you are provided with is tailored to your individual
needs. Sensors such as fall detectors, personal pendants and carbon
monoxide detectors are then placed around your home. Click
here for more information on the equipment
available.
The sensors are linked up to a lifeline unit which connects to
the monitoring centre through your telephone line. The sensors are
linked the lifeline unit remotely which means you don't have lots
of wires all over your house.
Step 2
If a sensor detects a potential accident or emergency, or if you
press the personal lifeline pendant, the lifeline home unit alerts
the monitoring centre within seconds.
Step 3
A trained operator will assess the nature of the emergency and
decide on the most appropriate action to take.
In many cases only reassurance needs to be given, however, in
other cases your key holder contact such as a family member, your
partner or your neighbour will be asked to attend.
Step 4
If your key holder contact is unavailable to attend, or if you
have no contacts, someone from an on call community response
service will respond to the incident. The community response
service works in partnership with Telecare. If the incident is
serious enough, the emergency services will attend
immediately.
