The protection from harassment act 1997

This Act provides remedies for people who are harassed, stalked or threatened by ex-partners. The Act refers to harassment as a course of conduct, which causes alarm, distress, or fear of violence. The 'course of conduct' must occur more than once. If proceedings are taken then conditions of bail may be imposed and work in a similar way as a non-molestation order, but end when the perpetrator is sentenced.
