Getting in touch

Sign language

If you require the services of a Sign Language Interpreter for any meetings with KCC, we can arrange this for you. If you have a meeting with Social Services this video clip will give further information, in signing, on how to arrange an interpreter for this meeting.

The text underneath the video clip links also explains how to book a sign language interpreter.

For information about learning sign language, please visit our sign language courses page.

Interpreting video clip accompanying text

Do you live in Kent? Do you need a British Sign Language Interpreter to help you access Social Services? Maybe you have a meeting with a Social Worker or a Care Worker who can't sign; that means they need to bring an interpreter to the meeting.

Social Services has a contract with a professional organisation who can provide this service. Good communication is important, that means we only use qualified interpreters. Any KCC staff can arrange an interpreter for you, but you need to let them know that you need this service. They will then contact Deaf Services.

Deaf Services works with deaf adults and children throughout Kent and Medway. All Deaf Services staff are skilled at working with deaf people; many are deaf themselves. You can contact them through your local Deaf Services office. If you don't know where that is then our Deaf Services pages can help you find information about where your local team is based.

We will try our best to arrange a service for you, although some of these services do take time to arrange, so please try to give as much notice as possible.
