Sign language courses
|
Kent Adult Education offers Sign Language courses
throughout the county together with Lip Reading and Deaf awareness
in many centres.
- If you have a hearing loss and wish to study sign language, the
tuition is free. There is also a 50% concession on tuition charges
if you have a close family member who is deaf.
- CACDP (Council for the Advancement of Communication with Deaf
People) qualifications are recognised by employers and there is an
external examination at the end of the course. The first CACDP
course is a one-year moderately intensive course that prepares you
for the BSL level 1 examination. BSL Level 2 is a 2-year course
with the exam taken in Year 2.
- We also offer Open College Network (OCN) Sign Language
Certificates at Levels 1 and 2.
These courses are less intensive and there is no external
examination (on-going assessment as you learn). Employers may not
recognise this certificate so it is ideal if your need to learn is
not for career progression.
Further information can be obtained from our brochures, by
calling 0845 606 5606 or by searching the

Adult Education website. |
