What is an advocate?

An advocate is a person who supports you and helps you to explain and say what you want. They help you to ensure that your views are heard, so that your problems can be sorted out. They will support you in any meetings with the people who are investigating your complaint. They will discuss with you the decision from Adult Services about your complaint and will give you information and advice about what else you can do if you are still unhappy. An advocate can be someone who is specifically trained to provide such a service or can be a member of your family, a friend or someone you feel comfortable with.
