What if I can't afford the required adaptations?
|
If you have been assessed by an occupational therapist as
requiring major adaptations in order to meet your identified needs
and a disabled facilities grant has been suggested to help you
finance the project you will need to complete a financial test of
resources. This will ascertain the contribution you have been
assessed as able to reasonably afford by the grants officer. If at
this stage you feel that you are unable to pay this contribution
then you will need to find alternative sources of funding to meet
this amount. This may be in the form of a commercial loan from a
bank or building society. If you are genuinely unable to meet the
contribution, which has been determined, or have any concerns about
this then do discuss the problem with your occupational
therapist.
