How much do I have to pay for equipment/adaptations?

For pieces of equipment provided by the OT Service there is no charge, either for delivery, maintenance or collection.

For minor adaptations carried out by our own OT Service technicians there is also no charge. If you live in a local authority or housing association property this work may be carried out by their own technicians. Again, there will usually be no cost for this, however, some housing associations may levy a small charge.

For major works, that cannot be carried out by our technicians, there are means-tested grants* called disabled facilities grants available to help people meet the cost of this type of adaptation. These grants are administered by the local district/borough/city councils and they can provide more information about the grant process and advise on the likely contribution which you would have to make towards the cost of the work.

* Applications made in respect of a child are no longer means tested.
