Equipment and adaptive aids

If you are visually impaired, hard of hearing or have other disabilities for which you may need special equipment or adaptations to your home, you may find the services listed on this page useful.

  • Deaf Services
    Deaf people under 65 years and all BSL users.

  • Hi Kent
    For those deaf people 65 years or over. Resource centres at Canterbury and Maidstone where equipment can be viewed or purchased.

  • Kent Association for the Blind (KAB)
    For blind and sight impaired people resource centres at Maidstone and Canterbury where equipment can be viewed or purchased

  • Occupational Therapy (OT Bureau)
    The role of the OT Bureau is to assess the needs of people of all ages who have difficulty managing activities of daily living due to a physical disability or frailty, for special equipment and/or adaptations to their home. To meet this aim the Bureau provides an equipment and adaptation service to disabled people of all ages, across the county.
