Equipment and adaptive aids

If you are visually impaired, hard of hearing or have other disabilities for which you may need special equipment or adaptations to your home, you may find the services listed on this page useful.

  • Deaf Services Bureau
    The Deaf Services Bureau (DSB) provide a range of services to deaf and partially hearing people of all ages. Staff skilled in communicating with Deaf people and a broad knowledge and depth of understanding of Deaf culture and the Deaf community.

  • Hi Kent - this link will open in a new window
    Hi Kent aims to enable hearing impaired people to overcome the socially isolating aspects of being or becoming deaf, by the provision of information and environmental equipment. You can order equipment directly through the website or at any Hi Kent centre.

  • Kent Association for the Blind (KAB)
    The Kent Association for the Blind is a Kent based voluntary agency that operates a service level agreement with Kent County Council to provide assessment and equipment services to Kent residents. The KAB website provides information advice about equipment.

  • Occupational Therapy (OT Bureau)
    The role of the OT Bureau is to assess the needs of people of all ages who have difficulty managing activities of daily living due to a physical disability or frailty, for special equipment and/or adaptations to their home. To meet this aim the Bureau provides an equipment and adaptation service to disabled people of all ages, across the county.
