National Deaf Organisations

Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA) Users Support
A Kent based charity who develop and offer support for BAHA users. It is run voluntarily by BAHA users for BAHA users and has grown from a local support group. The BAHA is an alternative hearing system for those who can benefit when there is no other suitable aid.

British Deaf Association (BDA)
The BDA is run by Deaf people. It represents the Sign Language community, which is united by shared experiences, history and, most importantly, by British Sign Language. Its site can be viewed in text or sign language.

National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS)
The only UK charity solely dedicated to providing support, information and advice for deaf children and young people, their families and professionals working with them.

Royal Association in aid of Deaf People (RAD)
RAD strives to meet the individual needs of Deaf children and adults and deafblind people through the provision of services and the use of RAD Centres for Deaf People.

Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID)
RNID is the largest charity working to change the world for the UK's nine million deaf and hard of hearing people. Activities include campaigning and lobbying, raising awareness of deafness and hearing loss, providing services and social, medical and technical research.

Local Organisations

Hi Kent
Hi Kent Aims to enable hearing impaired people to overcome the socially isolating aspects of being or becoming deaf, by the provision of information and environmental equipment.

Kent Association for the Blind (KAB)
KAB aims to provide a quality service for the individual needs of blind or visually impaired people in Kent, helping them to attain the highest level of independence.

The KAB also provides a Guide-Communicator Service. This service provides one-to-one support to people with reduced sight and hearing who are experiencing difficulties with communication, access to information and mobility.

Kent Drug and Alcohol Action Team
Information and advice on durg and alcohol dependency in Kent.

Deafblind organisations

Deafblind UK
A national charity that provides a range of support services to deafblind adults and their carers. They also campaign on behalf of deafblind people. There is a South East Regional worker.

Early Support - Helping Every Child Succeed
An organisation that provides Information for parents regarding multi-sensory impairment.

Sense
An organisation for children and adults who are deafblind or who have associated disabilities. The local branch within Kent offers a wide range of support services.
