Watch this page in British Sign Language (BSL)
By giving us your views and getting involved with the Deaf
Services Bureau you can:
- Have your say and tell us what you think of local services
including hospitals, schools and social care services
- Discuss good or bad things happening in your area
- Meet other d/Deaf people, share ideas and make things
happen
We recently held a focus group to ask people what they think of
our website and to have the chance to say what new information they
would like to see.
As a result of this group we have put more information on our
website - including this page telling you how you can get
involved.
Deaf service user groups
There are two groups for British Sign Language (BSL) users
living in Kent and Medway. These are:
Some of the things the groups want to look at are:
- Mobile Text System (and fax) for emergencies
- Interpreters for hospital appointments
- Deaf Awareness training for people
- Front line staff to have BSL skills
- Training for professionals in services on how to use
interpreters
- Improve access to local services including banks and post
offices
Deafened service user groups
A group has started in west Kent for deafened people. The group
will meet on the last Wednesday of every month to exchange views
and gain information on services available to the deafened
community. The main objective for the group is to raise awareness
and improve facilities for deafened people.
If you would like more information on this group or would like
to discuss getting involved with a group in east Kent, please
contact Jo Frazer by text phone on 08458 247905 or fax on 01622
221751.
Do you want to get involved but don't know how to?
You can send us your views in a written or video letter, or let
us know if there are particular topics that you are interested in -
for example health, police or education.
Or contact us If you think that you would like to take part in a
user group or would like more information about future d/Deaf
events run by KCC that you can attend.
So
please get in touch. |
