Branches Out & Yeoman's Grounds Maintenance

Branches Out Plant Nursery and Yeoman's Grounds Maintenance Project are both based in Dartford and support up to 24 people with learning disabilities a day.

Over the years we have seen a lot of changes and therefore expectations from people have also changed. The Government's White Paper called 'Valuing People' demands that services become more flexible and person centred.

This means looking at new ways to meet peoples' needs and provide a service that celebrates peoples' differences and embraces choice, independence and community involvement.

In 2007 a feasibility study (an information finding study) was carried out to look at the future of the both these services. The study looked at whether the services could join together to become a viable social enterprise. A social enterprise will offer an exciting and innovative future and deliver improved outcomes for service users, with greater opportunities for training and employment.

Get involved!

We now need to look at what that means for the people who access Branches Out and Yeoman's and we need to hear from everyone who this is likely to affect.

After the consultation closes on 17th July 2008 we will collect all your comments and views and prepare a report to share with you in early September.

We would like to hear from:

  • everybody who uses the existing service
  • parents and carers
  • people who might want to use the service in the future
  • other service colleagues such as health workers, schools, colleges etc
  • staff & union representatives
  • the general public
