Blind and partially sighted
Kent Association for the Blind
KAB through a service level agreement with KCC delivers a
comprehensive rehabilitation service to sight impaired people of
all ages and abilities, which includes assessment, skills training
& provision of equipment.
Kent Association for the Blind:
Accepts enquiries and referrals at any stage of sight loss.
Enables people to increase their independence and safety in all
daily living activities including mobility.
- Delivers skills training to individuals and groups.
- Demonstrates and provides equipment for everyday
activities.
- Offers permanent equipment demonstration at KAB Sight Centres
in East and West Kent.
- Offers emotional support to sight impaired people and their
families.
- Offers a dedicated service to people with learning disabilities
and sight impairment.
- Offers a Guide Communicator service for people who are
Deafblind.
- Raises awareness of sight impairment through training courses,
open days & exhibitions.
- Records and distributes free talking newspaper services.
- Has affiliated social groups manned by volunteers.
- Raises funds to support these activities.
- Offers volunteer support to those in need.
Referrals can be made in any format to each of KAB's four
Rehabilitation Teams. KAB Duty Officers are available daily.
