Kent Association for the Blind

KAB through a service level agreement with KCC delivers a comprehensive rehabilitation service to sight impaired people of all ages and abilities, which includes assessment, skills training & provision of equipment.

Kent Association for the Blind:

Accepts enquiries and referrals at any stage of sight loss. Enables people to increase their independence and safety in all daily living activities including mobility.

  • Delivers skills training to individuals and groups.
  • Demonstrates and provides equipment for everyday activities.
  • Offers permanent equipment demonstration at KAB Sight Centres in East and West Kent.
  • Offers emotional support to sight impaired people and their families.
  • Offers a dedicated service to people with learning disabilities and sight impairment.
  • Offers a Guide Communicator service for people who are Deafblind.
  • Raises awareness of sight impairment through training courses, open days & exhibitions.
  • Records and distributes free talking newspaper services.
  • Has affiliated social groups manned by volunteers.
  • Raises funds to support these activities.
  • Offers volunteer support to those in need.

Referrals can be made in any format to each of KAB's four Rehabilitation Teams. KAB Duty Officers are available daily.
