Intensive Supervision and Surveillance Programme
(ISSP)
Review by the Youth Justice Board
Kent and Medway Intensive Surveillance and Supervision Programme
has recently been reviewed by the Youth Justice Board's Practice
Improvement Consultants.
The review took place over three days in May. The first day was
spent reviewing client files. The second and third days were spent
discussing the scheme with the Team Leader and then meeting
representatives from all the organisations and parties that come
into contact with the scheme. These included the young people
themselves and their parents, workers from the Youth Offending
Teams who refer young people to ISSP, the Heads of Kent and Medway
Youth Offending Services, the Police, Magistrates as well as the
ISSP staff themselves.
The draft review found that the scheme was classed as 'good',
and made special note of the excellent relationship between the
ISSP scheme and the Youth Offending Teams with whom it works. It
also noted that the evaluation tool that Kent and Medway have
devised to monitor the success of the scheme was very good. See
ISSP Evaluation and Success for further information.
The ISSP team will meet with the YJB once the review report has
been approved. The meeting will be to discuss the report and to
prepare an action plan to address any areas in which improvements
can be made. |
