Respite care and shared care

If you have a child with a disability that you wish to arrange respite care for, or if you are interested in providing short-term breaks or respite foster care for children and young people including those with physical or learning disabilities, you may find the following services listed on this page useful.

  • Kent Link Scheme
The Kent County Council Link Scheme provides short breaks for children of all ages with disabilities and gives parents a break from caring full time. We are looking for people who can give disabled children time apart from their families. Some time off is essential for every member of the family and Link makes that possible.

  • Respite Foster Care
Children and young people, including children with physical or learning disabilities, may need respite fostering for a number of reasons. Some of these children may need a foster home that can offer a downstairs bathroom and bedroom, whilst other children may not need special adaptations. Children needing respite fostering may be aged between one year and 17 years.
