The Kent County Council Link Scheme recruits volunteers who
provide regular short breaks for disabled children.
The breaks may be for a few hours weekly, fortnightly or monthly
- dependent upon the availability of the volunteer and the needs of
the individual child.
For many families caring for their disabled child can be
exhausting. A link volunteer can not only provide the space and
time a family may need from caring full time for their child, but
also presents the child with a range of new social and recreational
opportunities and experiences.
All sorts of people can be volunteers, single people, couples
and families. We are looking for ordinary people with a genuine
desire to help a disabled child and their family
Sharing the care of a disabled child is not always easy and will
require patience and understanding, but it can be fun and
tremendously rewarding.
No special qualifications are necessary.
