What happens at a Family Group Conference for adults?

Information Giving

This is the first stage where relevant information is shared, options explored and resources highlighted, that will assist you and your family in making decisions.

Private Family Time

When you are ready, you will be left alone as a family group, to discuss in private what has been said. You may need some time to talk things through and make a plan for what you think is the best for you. There is no hurry.

Agreeing the Plan

When you and your family have agreed on a plan, the Co-ordinator and the professional who has referred you for the Family Group Conference, will return to the meeting room and talk over the plan. A plan should be agreed unless it puts you at risk of serious harm. Professionals will then be available to work with you to put your plan into action.
